North Central Academy Welcomes Chris Atteberry as New Principal
North Central Academy, a Pre-K through 12th-grade school located at 5055 Corey Rd in Mancelona, is proud to announce the appointment of Chris Atteberry as its new Principal.
Mr. Atteberry brings more than two decades of experience in education, leadership, and community engagement. He began his teaching career in Illinois in 2002 before relocating to Michigan in 2013, building a career centered on student growth, staff development, and strong school communities.
Most recently, Mr. Atteberry has served as a teacher with Gaylord Community Schools, where he has been recognized for designing standards-aligned instruction, supporting students with diverse learning needs, and mentoring fellow educators. His background also includes teaching roles at Harbor Springs Public Schools and Millburn Consolidated School District, as well as leadership experience as a business owner and general manager.
Mr. Atteberry holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from National Louis University and a bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest College. His professional expertise spans curriculum development, staff mentorship, and innovative programming, including founding an Outdoor Adventure Club that expanded hands-on learning opportunities for students.
“I believe schools are strongest when students feel connected, supported, and inspired to grow,” said Atteberry. “At North Central Academy, I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff and families to create meaningful learning experiences that help every student thrive—academically, socially, and personally.”
Mr. Atteberry and his wife, Amanda, were married on the shores of Frankfort and are the proud parents of two daughters, who will also be joining the North Central Academy community.
